Other than that, tough call. Obviously very smart and courageous, but not a lot of range I can see yet.

And she was pretty bed, whoops, hehe, I mean, bad, in Star Wars, but I'm gonna blame Lucas for that.

*blush

The professional. She played a great role.

I think Portman is an actress. She cannot be blmaed for what Lucas did, I believe the quote about his only direction to his performers is "Faster, more intense!" (From Harrison Ford <Movie> on the special edition DVDS).

Ahh Costner-Movie Star. I would love to say I think he stinks, but I cannot:

I think Field of Dreams is a Wonderful melodrama, and weep fest.
The Bodyguard....if you get over what people try to sell you on this movie, it is no more romantic than a Saturday night kegger in the woods. He is only interested in Whitney when he is drunk. Watch it again if you don't believe me.
Mr. Brooks - I rather enhoyed this movie for some reason, though it may have more to do with the resolution of the Dane Cook story line. (Which is probably why I like Se7en so much, but I digress)

Max Von Sydow anyone?

Wow.

Didn't he play the emporer in Lynch's Dune? He's been in a ton of movies, almost more of a character actor in his later years.

I'll go with actor, but I also think vintage Hollywood produced a lot more movie stars that were also actors than it does today. Or maybe that was just because the craft was still in its infancy...

Next up: Dennis Hopper

Yeah that did feel really out of place.

Torgo: The Emperor in Dune was Jose Ferrer; Max was Emperor Ming the Merciless! Also a great Brewmeister Smith in Strange Brew. (A wonderful re-telling of Rosencrantz and Gildenstern)

Dennis Hopper. Ah I so badly want to say actor, but he seems to play either play Hopper from Apocalypse Now or Frank from Blue Velvet a lot.

This made me think of one of my favorites:

Crispin Glover

I dunno, a lot of his roles seem to be variants on Marty McFly, only with varying degrees of menace.

He's one of those guys who's too weird for own good. He gets none of the benefits of movie stardom, and none of roles for big time actors, forever pigeonholed to most as Biff's whipping boy...

Speaking of weird:

Christopher Walken

You all are far more literate in movies than I, but I would like to think Mr. Glover is an actor.

and I like Mr. Walken, too. I like that he parodies himself quite often.

Weird ballroom trained actor.

I must admit Glover does play different versions of Glover. His best to me was Cousin Dell, in Wild At Heart. So sadly I must admit in terms of this game he is a movie star.

Walken too is a great talent, but always seems to be Walken. I do like that he is trained as a dancer.

What about Eric Stoltz?

Well I like him, so I'm going to say actor. Plus, he got to hang out with Cher.

*shudder

Okay, how about James Woods?

LOL, Woods, another great but seems to be James Woods all the time. I would like him to play a clown that falls in love with a mime. Of course thier love would be forbidden by the Mime's father, Christopher Lee.

What about *ducks* Ben Affleck?

I'm starting to think the secret to acting is being a movie star with a highly-developed and distinctive persona long before you ever get to Hollywood.

Oh, and Ben Affleck is a movie star of the worst type, Kevin Smith notwithstanding...

Next up: Uma Thurman

I think Uma has range, so she is an actress.

Affleck has range he can be the pompous jerk, or a guy from Boston.

Tom Cruise terrifies me.

Now: Ricardo Montelban

Anyone who can pull off "Let them eat static..." and "from hell's heart I stab at thee" without sounding like a total dink has got to be an actor...

Great comedian too, don't forget The Naked Gun!

This one'll hit ya where it hurts:

Bruce Campbell
