So, what's up with our "new" board of county commissioners? Are they doing anything different or doing anything at all? Do they talk to each other at meetings? Do they publicly discuss/debate issues? Apparently not.

We needn't have bothered holding an election. In fact, maybe Warren and Cheryl are still showing up.

Those of us who supported Cheryl Stearn knew it would be different if she were elected. But of course, in this county, she lost. It's everyone's loss. Crying or Very sad

Apparently, this new board has a new system of conducting business in secrecy at public meetings, using laptop computers in front of each commissioner, which the public and reporters cannot see. A reporter was told that if he wanted to access the information on the screen he would have to file a formal right to know request. They have 5 to 10 days to respond to such requests. Sort of turns the notion of a public meeting on its head. I thought these people (so-called public servants) worked for us, the public.

So are they instant messaging each other?

Are they allowed to do that?

This seems a little antagonistic. "Ha, HA you don't know what we're doing!"

Maybe they'll start using gang signs or sign language---it'd probably save us some money.

It's just more of the same asinine behavior our elected "representatives" - and I use that word loosely - pull all the time in Franklin County. (Think Jeff Conner). As a former reporter, I can tell you we ran into this crap all the time. I am outraged. I hope the PO, Morning Herald and other media file a Sunshine Law complaint against the commissioners for this.

You know, the more I think about this the more irritated I get!! Mad

There is no other reason to bring the laptops to a meeting-- maybe if you are giving a powerpoint presentation, but still you would not need one for each council member.

Why on earth would any grown, sensible, half-way intelligent person act so childish?!

It almost makes me understand the crazy guy that stormed the council meeting in MO.
In reality, it sounds like buddy was just a total nut, but if the members taunted like OURS seem to enjoy doing...GAH!!!

Were those laptops purchased at Sunrise?

NEWS FLASH:

Cheryl Stearn has been "honored" again and the G-man's name was mentioned in the article as well.

I'm confused, how does a "democrat" form such a powerful alliance with a republican?
