So why is it that the troops can no longer cook for themselves & operate supply lines?
Why is it that we pay Haliburton to do this?
Why is it that our troops aren't good enough to protect the big wigs & we hire Blackwater.
Why are our troops still there when the Iraqi government does nothing?
I believe that Iraqi oil production is 1.4 million bbls/day.
I say bring our troops home NOW. Let the Iraqis use their oil money to hire Blackwater for their own security. |

The headline on Yahoo says "McCain seals GOP nod as Romney drops out." I guess nobody's really taking Huckabee seriously.
Dave, maybe you know. If the surge is working, why can't the boys start coming home? The Republicans can't stop saying how right they were about the surge and how everything is going great now, but they are also still saying the troops can't come home. Why is that? |

I cannot help but think Huckabee is holding out for a V.P. nod.
I really hope he doesn't get it. _________________ I demand euphoria! |

Let's see... Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee and West Virginia. Are these:
A. States with some of the lowest literacy rates in the country
B. States with some of the highest poverty rates in the country
C. States that Mike Huckabee won on Super Tuesday, or
D. All of the above
No offense Chel, Georgia is a great state, I promise! Or at least the non-rural parts

Yeah. It's getting bad down there. Stamping biology textbooks with theory disclaimers. Governor cancels school to save gas. Governor holds a prayer meeting because the state needs rain (after meterologists predict a 65% chance for rain the next day.)
I think someone drugged the sweet tea.
edited to add: Newt Gingrich and Zell Miller also from GA and Bob Barr
ugh and the Falcons and University of Georgia and their Bulldogs. (I feel ill)

Seriously. Can you imagine if something happened to McCain (if he were to get elected) and Huckabee had to take over? We'd have a nut in the White House. Well, even more of a nut than we have now.
By the way, I read a column today by some guy talking about how the media were wrong once again about the Super Tuesday results and how they had hyped Obama so much and then Clinton won the big states anyway. ANYWHO, below this column were a bunch of posts from people - sort of like the PO's Haloscan. Wow! I had no idea so many folks out there hate Obama so much. You should read some of the posts. They are saying he was raised by an atheist mother and radical Muslim stepfather, and that he won't say the pledge of allegiance and turns his back on the U.S. flag. That he's part of some Muslim plot to take over America. Etc., etc. There's a lot of stuff being said out there - even I was shocked. _________________ The sun, the moon and the stars would have disappeared long ago... had they happened to be within the reach of predatory human hands. ~Havelock Ellis, The Dance of Life, 1923 |

Oh yeah, I seen some really ugly posts at other newssites and forums.
Alot of the posters seem borderline illiterate. Some of them, on different sites, were so similar that I hope it was some Tweddle-type character just making rounds.
Simplified: It was icky. _________________ I demand euphoria! |

As a former reporter, as you state elsewhere, you should know better than to reprint inaccurate information. But then, Hillary has a lot to gain from people reading and possibly believing such nonsense, no? _________________ "The Master would not approve..." |

Torgo, I don't recall reprinting anything in my last post, and what about what I said was inaccurate? _________________ The sun, the moon and the stars would have disappeared long ago... had they happened to be within the reach of predatory human hands. ~Havelock Ellis, The Dance of Life, 1923 |

I'm referring to the statements in your post about Obama's background, the propaganda about the pledge and the flag and the Muslim plot. While it may be accurate to note that stuff is all over the web, the statements themselves are not.
Why repeat them? You could have professed your shock at such malignant drivel without specifying the actual charges and then urging people to read more about them.
Some of the more cynical among us might think people with an interest seeing Obama defeated - like, say, Hillary supporters - actually want to spread this stuff around, especially under the thin guise of decrying it, because it helps their cause. That's not the case here, is it?
In any event, I remember the PO recently taking a beating over this very issue after it quoted a local man saying much the same thing. So it struck a nerve. _________________ "The Master would not approve..." |

Torgo, I think you give me way too much credit for being devious - which I assure you, I am not. You, on the other hand, seem extremely cynical and maybe even prone to conspiracy theories.
And, I wasn't saying anyone should believe those comments at all. I was simply saying that I was very surprised that some people are saying those kinds of things about Obama. Up until now, I've only heard from those who want to annoint him as the Second Coming, and I thought it was eye opening. That's it, period. I don't have any hidden agenda here. I've made my positions plain.
I, for one, don't appreciate being nitpicked over every little comment. If it keeps up, a lot of us won't feel comfortable saying what's on their mind. _________________ The sun, the moon and the stars would have disappeared long ago... had they happened to be within the reach of predatory human hands. ~Havelock Ellis, The Dance of Life, 1923 |

Barack Obama is a Christian. His father was African & a Muslim although not a devout one. His mother was from Kansas and a Christian - not a devout one.
He was sworn in on the Bible. & pledges alligiance to the flag.
With all the news about how these rumors are false, I can't believe there are people that still believe it.
How disappointing to think how many voters will not take the time to learn the facts.
Barack Obama is a great candidate for President. He is the only one that has a chance of breaking up this partisan politics tha is choking this country.
A leader is one who inspires and brings people together. Hillary & McCain is just more of the same (rhymes - a poet I be). This country needs healing after 8 years of the Divider.
Hillary has the backing of the Democratic machine especially in PA. Obama has the backing of the people. If the Democratic party was smart,m they woud tell Hillarey to drop out. If Hillary truly cared about this country, she would drop out. After all, if she claims 8 years as First Lady as experience then it is safe to say that she had her turn in the White House. |
