That's todays poll (which cleverly includes the options "aye" and "nay") but it's likely in response to a great marketing campaign Guiness runs every year called Proposition 3-17.
I love it; I've always enjoyed St. Patrick's day with Guinness and Irish Car Bombs (not that Coors Light dyed green garbage). If anything though, the day AFTER St. Patrick's day should be the national holiday. After all, a lot less people would call off work
Unfortunately the poll is running heavily in favor of "nay" but of course it's all a big gimmick. Despite that, I'll be out Monday night celebrating my Irish heritage and you can bet that I signed the petition for "Proposition 3-17."
My grandmother always loved to tell me that my Irish great-grandfather started every single morning with a raw egg in a pint of warm Guinness. He live to be 92. |

Several years ago we were in St. Louis over St. Patrick's day and stayed in a place called Drury Inn. It was a lovely place and located one block from a very popular Irish pub. It was an interesting trip.

I'd rather see the day after the Super Bowl being a holiday.
But, I'd settle for St. Patty's day. |

I'm in favor of any holiday.
Halloween is, and always will be, my favorite. _________________ I demand euphoria! |

there can never be too many hilidays.
Its time to start celebrating un-birthdays!
I mean evey other day being a holiday! people coming in to work with hang overs only to have the next day off to party again.
It would be a new world, a better world, a german world! _________________ "Nothing is more precious to me than the smile of a child"- Joseph Stalin |

I can neither agree nor disagree with you Laughing,
too many holidays would be bad, I mean, no work, no pay, no money for party essentials....no fun
what we do need, is more strategically placed holidays. Like Thanksgiving..a guaranteed 4 day weekend.
So, let us create then, holidays that fall on Wednesdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays....
Nobody needs a weekend holiday, so why waste the celebratory actions on an otherwise equivalent day?
that is all |
