| I'm so disappointed that wolf's bakery is no longer open. So what happened? I am really going to miss it for my holiday desserts. I did purchase some desserts there last year while it was still being called Wolf's but it's not even close to being as good and the hours and customer serivce just aren't there either. Where has everyone went for their baking needs now that we no longer have a real bakery in Greencastle? |

There isn't a real bakery in all of Franklin County, let alone Greencastle. |

| It was sold a while ago, but was supposed to stay open and offer many of the same products. I wonder what happened. |

What happened? Well, lets see.......New owner who possibly could not accept the fact that the business was successful the way it was. He just had to make changes that customers were not happy with. I quit going there after I ordered a specific cake decoration and it was not what I ordered. The new owner would not stand behind what they did. Mr. Wolf would have. Additionally, one of the charms of the "old" Wolfs Bakery was the gift shop. Mr. Wolf, when he did the buying, had a talent of finding unique items. I enjoyed going in just to see what was new, in addition to purchasing the goodies they made. New owner decided to do away with the charm. What a shame. It was the only good bakery in Franklin County. Now, there are none.

That does sound like a shame. Not only would a bakery be absolutely wonderful (as the all-wise Coppy has previously stated), but I really enjoy shops with an array of unique and eclectic merchandise. So much so, that I don't think I've emphasized my love enough.

I found some of the cutest gifts in that shop while waiting in line to pick up my order. Loved the snowman selection he always had. I think this year for my baking needs I'm going to order from Saigee B's in Mercersburg the lady that does the baking had Tea Time Tasties and does a great job but she doesn't have the man power that Wolfs had so I'm not sure how many orders she will be able to take. |

They have made some poor business decisions. The foot traffic in the store has greatly decreased, the atmostphere is totally different and they are almost always OUT of what I want by noon. What a way to alienate their old customer base!
Yes, their products are still the same. You guessed it - 90% of it comes out of a box and all they do is bake it or decorate it.
Even though there aren't many people in there, it is always a few minute's wait before you are waited on. The signs are classy too...."We are a working bakery. Not all of our employees are dedicated to waiting on customers."
They need to seriously rethink their business strategy. They have lots of critique on why Mr Wolf wasn't more profitable but I think they will soon be offering up a Going Out of Business sign.
What a shame. |

Newer isn't always better...too bad the new owners had to learn that the hard way. When I worked in Greencastle I would stop there and get goodies for the guys in my office. It was fun to see a bunch of grown men act like kids when they wanted to see what I brought them from the bakery!
On the plus side, I have lost weight since leaving that job and Wolf's bakery so I'm no longer on the plus side! Ha ha
