anyone have any good new releases they'd like to share?
i just watched enchanted and across the universe this weekend....both were really good. enchanted was cute and refreshing....across the universe was well made and visually very interesting. plus, how can you go wrong w/beatle songs??? lol
i saw i am legend is out. i'd like to see that next...anyone see it yet? thoughts? |

I liked I Am Legend, despite some people saying it was shallow compared to the original story... which is true, but just for entertainment purposes and because it is a little different, I enjoyed it.
I recommend it checking it out. |

I'm not a huge Ben Stiller fan, but I saw a commercial for a movie within a movie coming out called Tropic Thunder with him and Robert Downey Jr (whom I love) playing a white actor who gets a role as a black soldier.
I don't normally get 'excited' or very interested in comedies, but this one has piqued my curiousity.

I watched "No Country For Old Men" over the weekend. I really enjoyed. I got it from Netflix and returned it too soon - I wish I had watched it a second time.
I also saw "In The Valley Of Elah" a couple of weeks ago and liked it a lot too. Maybe it's a Tommy Lee Jones thing.
The way I tell if a movie was good is if I'm still thinking about it a week later. Both of those fit the bill for me. |

i do the same thing, am....if i keep going back to it then i know i enjoyed it. i have been happily humming beatles songs since saturday and keep thinking about the story line (peace, love, war, protest...very interestingly done)...and enchanted was just plain-ole-cute....and i needed some cute in my life.
i'm usually a comedy fan, personally...i love to laugh. the ben stiller one (which i haven't heard of) sounds somewhat amusing...i'll have to check it out...hehe.... |

| and i want to see no country for old men too...that looks really good and i haven't gotten to see it yet (as i had wanted to at the carlisle theatre..i missed it the week it was there....forget why now tho lol) |

I'm glad you liked "No Country" Anonymouse. A lot of people I've talked to lately either didn't like it, or outright hated it. I can't only explain this by it's very non-Hollywood ending, but it's difficult to explain that making it more of what they want would make it an inferior movie. I always come across sounding like a snob (can you imagine!) so I just let movies fall into that individual taste category.
I'll just stick to beer snobbery and continue trying to convince my friends that all light beer is swill.  |

The ending definitely caught me off guard and I was initially disappointed. As it continued to roll around in my brain for a couple of days I realized part of my disappointment was just that I was enjoying the characters so much I wanted to keep watching. And I also realized that the end wasn't the point.
I try hard not to say a movie is good or bad - just whether I liked it or not. People often recommend movies that they love, but it's so often formulaic same-old. I can certainly enjoy mindless action like "The Transporter" or "Live Free or Die Hard." I'm rarely thinking about them days later though.
I also rented "The King of Kong," a documentary about the world record holder on Donkey Kong and a challenger. I tend to enjoy movies and documentaries about personalities. ("The Real Dirt on Farmer John" is another one like that). "The King of Kong" delved into this amazing subculture of old-fashioned arcade game players who were fascinating to watch. I'd love to hear if anyone else saw it and what they thought. |

| I watched "Michael Clayton" last night. I really enjoyed it. The actors are all first-rate and the plot requires you to pay attention. It had my total attention through the whole two hours, another sign of a good movie. |

my friends and i went saturday night to see baby mama.
very funny...steve martin was a surprise delight...his part was a hoot. great cast. i love tina fey. she be my hero. |
