| being a cburg native, i have some issues too....mostly because of our school district .... and imo there are *alot* of cliques....you have to be from the "right side of town" (ie, not the 'country' side) |

Nothing crazy but as a kid I grew up in Shipp until 7th grade, then I moved to Altoona, then to Carlisle and went to Cumberland Valley. But since Carlisle was so close I was in Shipp every weekend and summers and for some reason back in the 80's Shipp and Chambersburg people did not like each other. I think it was because of some close minded people who thought that since there were mopre than 4 African American people in Chambersburg than it was a crap town. So most of my friends would talk down about Chambersburg and the few times I was there my car was vandalize, my stero was taken, I was in a fight. Then back in 2004 I brought my family to Shipp for a vist (we lived in HBG at that time) and I stopped at Sheetz and some guy tried to start crap with me for no reason. I had been living in HBG for 7 years and never had a issue with anyone, but I was in Chambersburg for 5 minutes and crapped got started. |

What is the rigthside of town? I can remeber my friends said to never go the section of Chambersburg by County Market, but I was like "Hey, the movies are there(long time ago)" JC Penny and there use to be this great Chinese restaurant that was by the movie place. Plus IHOP |

the 'right' side of town is on the lincoln way east end o'town (guilford, anything by the high school....um...what else...scot green)....
if you live on 'the other side of the tracks' (railroad division) it's not 'as cool' when i was in school....alot of elitist snobbery goes on in classrooms (i know it's 'everywhere' but, hey....what can i say!? it's what i experienced lol)
i used to get "oh, you live on that side of town"
and me, being me, would be like: "oh, whatever!"

Hey Paul... I graduated from CV  I think I graduated quite some time after you though... I'm sure we had some of the same teachers.
I liked going there, but cookie, you haven't seen a cliquey school until you've seen Cumberland Valley.
Talk about people starting crap with you in Chambersburg... some dude almost pulled out right in front of me a few weeks ago. I beeped at him, but it was more of a "hey, I'm over here about to hit you" beep. He pulled in behind me and got right up on my back bumper; first I got both fingers and then he started jerking his thumb to the side like he wanted me to pull over... what? ***? Who does that? I mean; he almost pulled out in front of me and then he wants me to pull over for what? So he can "kick my ***?"
I really couldn't believe it.
I'll say this, after living in several different parts of the country including the suburbs of New York City and Harrisburg, Chambersburg is by far the grumpiest and most unfriendly... especially if you're not from around here and not extremely religious. Most people will ask you what church you go to before anything else (if they even bother to ask you anything at all). I guess that's just a small town thing.
Honestly, I don't really like it here. I am trying to do what I can to help make it better though. |

What year? I was 1986.. did you have Mr T for anything? CV is very very clickly.... I am one who gets along with all, but yes it is bad. |

yes, there is muchos rudeness in cburg. when i was in state college, tho, i found that to be rude too. ditto scranton. and i love nyc rude. hehe...got's to love it! it's a fun kindof rude
and, coppy, i am in your club to improve the area. i left it and found i missed it....and my family...and that's more important to me...so...if wegmans can't come maybe a thai restaurant could. LOL |

Eh, Wegman's is a great excuse for heading up to the Harrisburg area. You can make a day out of it; lots of restaurants, great movie theaters, plus the Whitaker Center and IMAX. A great night-life on second street, the Troegs' Brewery tour, Riverfront Park, City Island and Senators games, and some truly great summer festivals... yeah, I could go on and on. I miss living up there.
You tend to take all those things for granted.  |

i always wanted to do the city park thing...and i keep meaning to go to that wegmans but i never do. i usually stop by the s.c. or scranton one (the scranton one was the best so far imo)...i'll need to head up that way to check it out. i love the organics dept. yum yum!!! |
