From what I remember, that's a pretty good list but whadda I know. The only recordings I own from that list is KIX and most of those were given to me. Nice to see them in your the list. Local boys make good.
Maybe White Snake should be included and, what about Van Halen? Are they a "Hair Band" or maybe prog rock? lol _________________ I don't know, whadda you think? |

AC/DC hair metal?
AC/DC is my favorite band of ALL time and I would never put them in the hair metal class.

I see "hair metal" as bands that are definitely defined by a specific "moment" in hard rock history. A moment that is pretty much defined by one-two-or-three hit wonders, power ballads, the 1980's, and of course big hair. AC/DC for all intents and purposes doesn't count.
But hey, the list is for fun so I say we should allow it
I mean, Metallica was part of that "hair metal" phase, but kind of went all sell-out on us and continued making hits with short hair. Plus the whole "Napster Bad!" thing which when straight into the 2000's.
Van Halen was also part of that phase, which clearly ended when they went "Van Hagar." But Guns n Roses transcended that too, and we all consider them a a hair band.
I think White Snake DEFINITELY counts despite being famous more for their ballads than their metal. Plus hot chicks dancing on cars. |
