Uh oh, I'd never vote for someone who doesn't eat cheesesteak!!!!
How many cheesesteaks do you think McCain would scarf down on the campaign trail?
If you judge your presidential candidates on their food choices, I assume Bill Clinton is your favorite. |

How do you not go to Geno's or Pat's? Heck just take one bite for the camera. Clinton liked McDonald's too much. I am not a big fan of Mickey D's. If I have to eat at a FF place I would prefer Wendy's. |

| Now show me a candidate that will scarf down a Hot Corned beef or a Ruben and he has my vote! |

I think it's because Kerry got absolutely destroyed for ordering a cheesesteak with swiss. Blaspheme! Reading the whole article, it seems that candidates consider it safer to avoid regionally specific foods with strict ordering guidelines than to screw them up.
It probably is; swiss cheese on a cheesesteak? I didn't even know that was an option.
I haven't eaten at McD's since 2004 ( a streak I'm quite proud of) and I'm done with burger king after a really bad whopper on consecutive occasions. Wendy's has better choices, but some of the restaurants are downright bad... I still have to try a baconator. I just want to have a defibrillator near by.
As for fast food, i'm partial to Hardee's, Arby's, and, surprisingly, Taco Bell (they have a strange hold on me from my college years despite their inherent grossness). I like Quizno's and Chipotle for better quality fast food. |

I have not been to a Hardee's since 2002, I miss them. OK dont get me started on Chipotle because I finally got to go to one here in OH and I love it. That is what I will miss moving back to PA |

There's a Chipotle in Hagerstown, so you're not out of luck. And there's also the slightly inferior Moe's in Chambersburg now (although I don't see why people hate it so much).
I have to admit, considering fast food places only, Hardee's makes the best burgers.
Granted, I've never tried Jack in the Box or In and Out. |

You think Obama is bad? Check this out!
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/04/01/tempting-obama-on-the-trail/
Tasty excerpt:
"Question to our Keystone State readers: What is it with this Pennsylvania fetish for bizarre world food combinations? In Johnstown, this New Yorker encountered the artery-clogging prospect of cheese-fries. And here in this diner in a perfectly lovely corner of this Berks County we come upon the Marvel Mess, a sandwich combining eggs, potatoes, onions, cheese, green peppers and Shiva only knows what else. (And in Philadelphia, my college son Nick tells me they serve up a sandwich called the Roethlisberger, named after the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, which sound so utterly and purely disgusting in its bouillabaisse combination of mystery meats and cheeses and coarse spices, as to induce a stomach-throbbing ache just hearing of it)."
Yes, because you just can't find a place that will serve cheese fries in New York City... _________________ "The Master would not approve..." |

Really OMG... I cant beelive that McDoandsl use to own a majority at Chipotle. Glad they got out in 2006. I just ate last week at my first White Castle and I dont see the big deal. Now I would love to try a In and Out (animal Style) or go to Denny's in Clearfield to try a four pounder. Around here I am stuck with Rally's and Sonic. |

I agree Pennsylvania is known for some unbelievably strange food combinations in sandwich form. The cheesesteak is something I would typically despise, drenched in melted process cheese product... but I understand the sentimentality, and I also admit they're an indulgence everyone should try at some point.
And then there's the Primanti sandwich in Pittsburgh, which is some sort of sandwich (I'm partial to pastrami myself) with fries and cole slaw in the sandwich itself. I'm sure you've all at least heard someone talk about these. The Cottage makes a highly inferior version.
But cheese-fries? Cheese fries are extremely popular all over New York and New Jersey (especially in all of those diners), although they are topped with real cheese like mozzerella or provolone. If PA has any slightly gross obsession, it's with American cheese.

To be honest I have eaten all of them, I lived in Western PA in 80-82 ( left because the economy died, or so my dad tells me) and they are all great eats |

If you go to certain places and get a hot dog or a BBQ and they ask if you want coleslaw it will not be on the side. In fact Sheetz has cole slaw for their death dogs |

Cole slaw shouldn't be on the side when it comes to BBQ, but that's not the strange part about the Primanti... it's the french fries. They're in the sandwich.
Cole slaw (like ketchup) never belongs on a hot dog IMO. |
