I just talked to a co-worker about Pizza House and he claims that their cheese is "fake." I think he might be right, and by "fake" I think he means processes... using an American cheese instead of mozzerella.

That's breaking the golden rule of pizza, and should not be allowed to call itself as such if this is true.

Granted, Paul, I think that it has changed since you went there... Pizza House was never open late and held very inconsistent hours when I lived in Ship.

LOL when I was a teenager we use to csay that it was Goat Cheese because it tasted so different, but that was just kids not knowing any better. Yes the cheese was unique, but that is alo what made it. Plus Vicki Apanagas (sp?) Embarassed

Johnnie's does serve pancakes and waffles for breakfast I just had blueberry pancakes on my last visit. Were you ordering from the breafast menu or the all day breakfast menu? I used to work there as a teenager so I guess I'm a little biased and protective of my favorite breakfast buit I do agree the smokiness. I do takeout.

Tele, Molly's is definitely on my list; in fact, i almost went to Molly's instead of Johnnie's the other day and now I'm sorely regretting my decision. Especially for breakfast; Johnnie's doesn't even have pancakes or waffles (like most of the same old crap restaurants).

As for Path Valley Family Restaurant, where is that? I haven't heard of it, but I'm not too keen on going out of my way for anything mediocre.... even stuffed flounder with crabmeat. I can go to Hagerstown and hit at least half a dozen unique places where I could even get a beer.

I'm open to any suggestion, but my purpose is more or less for the owners and regular patrons of these restaurants: they suck and I hate them. Everyone else just ignores it, but nothing changes if someone doesn't say something... even if it comes across as a bit harsh. These are businesses that should be competing for our business, not serving the same boring food they did 30 years ago.

I was at Johnnie's just before 11am. If they are not serving their "normal" breakfast then, on a Saturday, I don't care what they may or may not serve earlier. The menu sucked; and if it was their "all day" menu, then that's even worse. Why can't a crappy, hole-in-the-wall place just serve full breakfast all day? It's not like they offer much of anything in the way of originality or quality. My omelet was dry and boring, and filled with process cheese. The "Heinz" ketchup bottles were clearly filled with a low-quality, mass produced variety of ketchup (this is pretty common around here).

I can get breakfast at 11am at any number of places; I guess I'm not enough of a senior citizen who eats dinner at 12:30 pm.

Not recommended.

Haha... I really just let it out, don't I? Some people appreciate my blunt honesty... others find it incorrigibly repulsive.

I hope its at least mildly amusing. I'm more or less annoyed at the fact that chain restaurants around here are considerably better than locally owned ones... and I hate that. It should always be the other way around, and certainly not automatic.

I normally don't mind Coppy's bluntness, but Fonnynonny quite clearly admitted a fondness and nostalgia for Johnnie's, so I cringed a little at Coppy's reply. Some leeway should be allowed for nostalgia's sake.
I would not want you to not be yourself, Coppy Dearest, but a little sympathy for the locals, at least, the Soapbox locals (yes, they deserve special treatment) wouldn't be too much would it?
Don't lie, just maybe, umm, sugar coat your dagger?

I never ate at Johnnie's (at least, not that I can remember), but I DO remember going as a kid to get bulk candy. Do they still do that?

thanks for the comment. I try not to get too involved in heated debates in forums and also try not to ruffle the feathers of the posters that I enjoy. I think we all enjoy hearing from Coppy and I didn't really feel offended but I appreciate the thought. Enjoy your weekend everyone! Smile
