I would like your opinion as to why people leave dogs in hot cars?
I was at a nursery Friday. Asphalt parking lot. Full sun no shade. Outside temp in the 80s. 2 dogs in a very hot car with about 1 inch of two windows down. Dogs panting. I told my very tolerant daughter to brace herself. By the time I finished my numerous announcements in each greenhouse and returned to the parking lot, the car and dogs were gone. If nothing else, hopefully, some dog owner, as well as many innocent bystanders, were educated about the foolish ways of leaving dogs in a car when it is hot (over 60 degrees) outside. _________________ onewhoknows

I dont get that..like that 1/2 crack will make up for the soaring heat that is inside your car. _________________ I am having brain surgery on 09/26/08 please read my blog to help ease my mind.

'Cause they want me to break their windows?
I wish I could help all the fur babies... I don't know how Georgia Martin does her job without smacking people sometimes--- 'course that would probably stress the dog out seeing as how they give loyalty unconditionally, even to dirtbags.

What's Martin got to do with this? She's not the cruelty officer. I wish there had been someone official there!! _________________ onewhoknows

Honestly, I mentioned her because she is who we read (hear) about.
(I'm not the one who knows, remember?! I count on someone else to keep me informed! )
Without an official presence there, I think you did the only thing that was legally allowed.
I wish there was more that could be done.
Maybe I'll borrow Cookie's super hero costume and go vigilante.
AND Before I forget to put it on another thread: Paul, read that you have a hedgehog, (I adore those little boogers!)
I must strongly suggest you keep that information on the DL, because, although the great state of PA allows for alligators to be sold in pet stores---as long as you promise you'll use it for education purposes *wink wink* (Please don't buy a 'gator, folks--they deserve better.) And even though the venomous reptile regulations are pretty lax compared to some areas, hedgehogs as bloodthirsty and vicious as they are, are not welcome.
I don't pretend to know why, we only found out because a friend of ours had an albino female and they both stayed with us awhile. (I know! We're total rebels!!) _________________ I demand euphoria! |

Wild animals should not be kept as pets. And that is why my wife divorced me! |

Well, I hope she at least had you neutered before she released you into the wild.

| I worked at the Humane Society in Hagerstown last summer, and you wouldn't believe how many calls we got about animals left in cars. People don't understand that just 10 min. in a car when its 75 out can KILL an animal. They can't sweat like we can. If this happens and you see it you need to call the police. They are the ones that can hold the car there or gain entrance for a animal control officer. If people have to go out leave your dog at home. Would they leave their child in a car? It's just not right!! Its MEAN!!!! |

Bob BARKER??? in a DOG thread?? Cookie you are so punny.
For myself I'll just say that anything tries to neuter Mister Me
is either gonna wind up on my supper table, in bed with me, or six feet under.
And people who leave their hotdogs in cars are just plain rude.
Onions and stuff get everywhere..
I once broke a car window in an abused dog situation. And then I ran. As I looked back the dog was sucking down an aquafina and waving me the peaceout sign.

I agree and think society is much less tolerant of this type of thoughtless behavior than in the past. There are laws and they should be strictly enforced.
