I think the GOP presidential candidates have made a major mistake in their reaction to Ron Paul. The party line has been "Paul is Crazy, a nut, a kook." Problem is - he has really captured the attention of the grass roots - who I think is becoming offended by the GOP candidates dismissive attitude. Big mistake.

Why?

Paul's rhetoric has the same sound/appeal as the 94 "Contract With America" congressional race. And for the past 30 years the GOP made major issues about abortion and gun control on Constitutional basis. Now - a guy comes along who is going to walk the walk - not just talk the talk - and they call him "crazy" ??? I think this has the grass-roots scratching their collective heads - and VERY suspicious of the front runners.

I think the GOP is hoping to "Perot-ize" Ron Paul - problem - Ron Paul is no Ross Perot.

Maintaining this illusion will become increasingly difficult for the GOP...espcially if they think they can get away with trotting out UBER-LIBERAL candidates like Rudy Giuliani.

Sorry GOP - it just doesnt add up...

i was just thinking that maybe ron paul will become the ross perot of this election. I don't believe he will win the party's nomination, if he did, he would have little chance of winning the general election. Personally i like his stands on a lot of personal liberty issues, but not on economic or social service issues. That will be a sticking point with a lot of Americans

I don't think he has a chance. The party will not let him get the nomination.

I think he will do this. He will make it more difficult for the big 3 to dodge some of the critical issues. He will open some eyes - both voter and candidate. Maybe we can get something besides the same old polical crap.

I love it in a debate when he comes down on the others. He takes no prisoners.

I don't know if I would vote for him if I thought my vote would be wasted. There are some candidates that I definately don't want in there and voting to insure that will make the difference.

Ron Paul's a nut bag.

And I tend to identify myself as ideologically libertarian in many ways.

When I listen to Ron Paul speak, I'm captivated at first at his refreshing, non-partisan outlook.

As I continue to listen, I grow increasingly scared.

He's the only one, to me, that makes the least sense the more you listen to him.
