This is the one from 2007, an adaptation of the Stephen King novella by the same guy who directed "Shawshank Redemption."
This, however, is a totally different kind of movie. Old-school, steadily intensifying horror with a twist ending that reminded me of "Night of the Living Dead." Anyone seen it?
Thoughts on the much-ballyhooed, gratuitously nihilistic ending?
(If you haven't seen it and want to, I strongly recommend you not look up the spoiler.) _________________ "The Master would not approve..." |

Torgo, I saw this a few weeks. As for the ending, all I can say is "holy crap."
I don't want to give anything away on the ending, but the pure shock of is what made that movie from just a monster film to something considerably more thought-provoking... if not depressing.
Gratuitously nihilistic is almost putting it lightly. It was one of those few movies I actually sat there with my mouth open as the credits rolled. I think the only other film that did that to me was David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. |
