You heard it here first:
Actor Heath Ledger has just died.
| Quote: | (AP) Australian-born actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence in what authorities said was a possible drug-related death, the New York Police Department said. He was 28.
A police spokesman said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the apartment that is believed to be his home. The housekeeper went to tell Ledger the masseuse had arrived and found him dead Tuesday afternoon, Paul Browne said.
Ledger was an Oscar nominee for his role in "Brokeback Mountain," where he met his wife, actress Michelle Williams, in 2005. Ledger and Williams lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, but split up last year.
Ledger played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball" and had starring roles in "A Knight's Tale" and "The Patriot." He was to appear as the Joker this year in "The Dark Knight," a sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins." |

Roy Scheider, of 'Jaws' Fame, Dies
| Quote: | Roy Scheider, a one-time boxer whose broken nose and pugnacious acting style made him a star in "The French Connection" and who later uttered one of cinematic history's most memorable roles in "Jaws," has died.
Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, hospital spokesman David Robinson said. He was 75.
The hospital did not release a cause of death, but Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years. |

Chel...Toe warning!
He (John "Chucky" Carter) was my cousin.
After he changed his name all of the relatives still called him "Chucky"
Editted to spell "toe" right! _________________ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way.

I never got to really meet him. He was always "too busy" for family reunions. I did see him in L.A once at the Universal lot. My Dad yells out, "Hey Chucky, what do ya know?" He sort of turned around with a knowing smile and waved back. _________________ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way.

Truer words are a rare find.
I don't normally take things like this to heart, but his death has really got me down.
He seemed so earnest and seemed to truly enjoy what he did...and the suddenness of it.
I'm thankful that his family had just returned from a vacation, I hope they are able to cherish those times.

I was at work when it happened, with CNBC on in the center of the room. A hush fell over the newsroom, and everyone just stopped for a few minutes.
Katie Couric is in town this evening. Someone I know interviewed her and said she was truly upset.
I don't know how anyone couldn't be.
It's rare to find a broadcast newsman who is so earnest and who cares so much about what he does and the people he does it with. |
